Just try to ping yahoo.com from client, if yahoo's ip address doesn't appear it is mean your dns setting in problem. If your dns doesn't work you must check your dns client setting, if there is no problem then check conection between your easyhotspot router to the internet. In easyhotspot router => try to ngeping yahoo.com from router, if get failed then check dns setting "$cat /etc/resolv.conf" , to edit => $sudo nano /etc/resolv.conf
make sure like this :
nameserver Your_1st_DNS_IP Your_2nd_DNS_IP

You can check again by ping yahoo.com, if still geting fail maybe your gateway setting is wrong. check $sudo /sbin/route
to add default gw => $sudo route add default gw your_gateway_ipaddress

to setting this when system restart you can try edit /etc/rc.local => $sudo nano /etc/rc.local
add this line :
echo "nameserver Your_1st_DNS_IP Your_2nd_DNS_IP" > /etc/resolv.conf
/sbin/route add default gw your_gateway_ipaddress

then restart your easyhotspot router.

just follow your guide to replace Chilli with Coova. everything went right. The problem is, i have to restart Chilli (/etc/init.d/chilli restart) twice after system restart / shutdown, so client can connect to Coova. any idea?

Hi guys,
i have two questions:

-replacing chillispot daemon with coovachilli is enough? i mean i don't have to change my router firmware from dd-WRT to coovaap? (because my device is unsupported by coovaap.)
-replacing chillispot with coovachilli is going to definitely solve my problem with occasional "login failed"? sometimes i have to try to login 2 to 3 times for a successful login.

thanks in advance.

Hi v8u1er,

- You dont need to change your router firmware to coovaAP, because you just need to upgrade the captive portal on your server to coova chilli.
- It should at least solve the 'login failed' problem that requires multiple logins.
Give it a try, hope you succeed..

It's better to use this kind of install instead of DPGK way:
Code: Select all
wget http://ap.coova.org/chilli/coova-chilli-1.2.2.tar.gz
  tar xzf coova-chilli-1.2.2.tar.gz
  cd coova-chilli-1.2.2
  ./configure --enable-largelimits
  make
  sudo make install

Otherwise you will be getting this error when many users are on:

Code: Select all
Jan 30 00:29:05 lan [chilli_redir]: main-redir.c: 90: out of connections
